Senior Human Resources Generalist for Largest Healthcare Facility in Western New York
The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a member of the senior HR leadership team, with responsibility for the delivery of human resources programs and services to a designated Kaleida Health facility. Acts in support of Kaleida strategic initiatives and principles.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Manages employee relations processes for service group in compliance with Kaleida corporate HR policies. Delivers a full range of HR core services to site employees on a daily basis. Delivers excellence in core human resources servicing to client group. Continually strives to upgrade the quality and efficiency of services delivered.
2. Administers labor contracts, coordinates grievance responses with managers, represents Kaleida at upper level and/or second step grievance meetings as assigned, and assists HR Director at contract negotiations and in arbitration proceedings.
3. Provides consultation to managers on policy interpretation, workforce re-engineering initiatives, and labor relations strategies. Responsible for developing and maintaining positive union-management relations, administering applicable contracts and resolving routine labor issues. Acts as a business partner to service group managers in support of Kaleida Health strategic initiatives and plans.
4. Influences decisions and negotiates outcomes that may be both controversial and unpopular with key management stakeholders, employees, and union representatives.
5. Provides daily direction to the site Human Resources Generalists and support staff, and promotes teamwork.
6. Insures that all human resources actions are in compliance with Kaleida policies and applicable federal and state laws. Coordinates responses with HR Director, Internal Legal Counsel and legal representatives on employment related complaints filed with state and federal agencies. Understands and enforces Joint Commission compliance on Human Resources standards at the site.
7. Acts as a liaison to the corporate HR departments (Employment, Benefits, Compensation, Labor Relations) regarding HR policies and corporate initiatives. Participates in policy development with senior HR management based on feedback from service group information.
8. Exercises judgment based on professional knowledge and guidelines, assumes responsibility with full accountability for consequences and decisions having broad based impact on the organization and individuals.
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires 5-7 years of professional exempt level HR experience including employment and employee relations.
- Labor relations and negotiations experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or other applicable discipline required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and expertise in Microsoft Office software applications also required.
