Are you a national SHRM Member? Yes

Why did you join BNHRA and what do you get out of your membership? In 2008-when I moved to Buffalo- coming from the west coast, I knew I needed to get involved in the local SHRM Chapter to network. I also knew from experience that the local SHRM chapter offered resources that would assist me in the growth of my career. When I joined the BNHRA, I was impressed with the level of commitment and dedication I saw from the members. It was obvious that the HR professionals of Buffalo were committed to making a difference, increasing the resources to their HR colleagues, and mentoring the upcoming HR professionals.

Being a member of SHRM and the BNHRA gives me the opportunity to network, share best practices, attend local seminars that will help me succeed in my career, as well as the opportunity to help other HR professionals in their careers. Being a dual member, I get the best of both worlds.

What is your favorite aspect of HR? I started my career as an HR Generalist and after a few years moved into Staffing and Direct Placement Recruitment. I love recruiting, it gives me the opportunity to be in front of the client and learn about many diverse industries as well as meet with a variety of candidates. At the end of the day it is a rewarding feeling knowing that not only did I find my clients a qualified candidate, but I also helped someone find the right position.

What keeps you up at night as an HR Professional? Keeping my clients happy by finding the highest caliber of talent for their positions and helping candidates find the job they need or are looking for that will help build their career. In this economy there are so many talented candidates out there. It is important for me to think outside of the box and be creative in how I can bring the right client and candidates together to make that perfect match.
