Welcome to BNHRA I am honored to serve as the President for the Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association Chapter of SHRM for July 2009-June 2011. I promise it will be an exciting term with opportunities to grow your Human Resource knowledge, expand your network, and share your expertise with chapter colleagues. For those of you that dont know me, I have worked in HR for twelve years. Ten years at United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, where I am currently the Chief Human Resources Officer. Before moving to Buffalo in 1999, I worked at Winter Park Resort in Colorado as an HR Assistant. I have been involved with BNHRA for seven years, serving on a variety of committees and the Board. I obtained my PHR Certification in 2001 and am considering sitting for the SPHR in 2010 (I will keep you posted on that). I am also the mother of two children, ages 7 and 5, so I constantly strive to achieve that work-life balance we HR professionals are always promoting!
I am excited to spend the next two years working with an outstanding group of volunteers. Our Chapter is very fortunate to have many returning board members as well as five new members. The Board members bring a dynamic mixture of expertise from many facets of Human Resources. We will be spotlighting our volunteers on our website each month, and highlighting how they are Serving the HR Professional and Advancing the HR Profession. To lighten up the summer months, we have some fun networking events planned. You will be in for another exciting season with BNHRA in September. The Board will create our strategic plan in July and August around our main goal, which is to enhance your business competency for your role as a Human Resource professional. I encourage members to be active and involved with BNHRA as the Board creates invigorating experiences and educational opportunities.

The Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association (BNHRA) is the pre-eminent human resource professional organization in Western New York. We are a group of diverse professionals involved in a variety of leadership and support roles within the human resource management profession.

BNHRA, formerly known as the Niagara Frontier Chapter of SHRM, was founded by a small group of local personnel managers and university professors in 1974. The goal was to provide open communication, networking and information to others in the same profession.
Today, BNHRA represents the interests of more than 600+ professional and student members, representing more than 300,000 employees within the Western New York community.
